Cutter, wire

Production date
1914-1918
Description
A set of German wirecutters used by the German Army (Heer) for cutting barbed wire entanglements on the front lines. These cutters were designed to be easily handled and are comparatively short as not to expose the operator to any extra danger. Many troops issued with these cutters were designated assault pioneers.

There is a stamped manufacturers name marked on one side of the head, this however is unreadable. On the opposite side further down on the handle there is the letters D.R.G.M stamped into the metal. This is the official German state stamp.
