Christchurch Brick Company Limited

Biography
In 1898 George & Thomas Horsley bought the Farnley Works in Centaurus Rd (formerly Austin, Kirk & Co – q.v.), operating until 1905 as T N Horsley & Co; renamed as Christchurch Brick Co after buying Wigram Brothers brickworks at Hillsborough. Business closed on that site in 1920, and continued at Centaurus Rd until 1924. According to Gail Henry (New Zealand Pottery), their backstamped products can be considered “the most competently potted and glazed items of any New Zealand wares.”
