Biography
Educated at Monckton Combe School and at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. Represented his college in rowing and football. Studied for the Church. Entered St. Bartholomew's Hospital in 1899 and qualified as a surgeon in 1906. Was captain of St Bartholomew's Hospital Rugby Team, 1903-04, and played in the Richmond Club 1903-04-05. Surgeon and Cartographer on the British Antarctic Expedition ( Nimrod) 1907-09, and a member of the Furthest South Party. Accompanied the British Expedition to Dutch New Guinea 1909-11.
