Description
Stoneware figurine, one of a series titled "Pilgrims of the Golden Dawn", in form of a cowled monk with upraised arms, holding a mask on a long length of (?fencing) wire. Figure has no face; buttoned robe is open to reveal undergown with hanging straps which are incised and embossed with geometric designs. Figurine formed by folding flat strips of clay which have been rolled over fabric. Flat gritty blue-brown "glaze" - note has tendency to flake off on rounded surfaces and edges - CARE NEEDED IN HANDLING.
