Description
One glazed Royal Doulton Vellum ware figurine made by Charles Noke. The figurine is of Cleopatra and is reputed to show the actress Lily Langtry playing the role and is believed to be one of only two surviving examples of this particular figurine.

The glaze is an almost matte and the main colour is ivory/yellow with the clothing coloured in light green and light pink. The piece is signed by Noke on the back of the base. The Royal Doulton symbol is on the base.

Provenance details
The figurine was purchased by South Canterbury farmer James Macaulay from John Bates & Co of Christchurch during the early 1900s, possibly at the 1906 Christchurch Exhibition. James was a collector and the figurine sat on the mantel piece in the family home.
