Provenance details
The Gordon family lost their home in the February 2017 Port Hills fires. Through a mutual friend Ara art and design student, Courtney Brown contacted the Gordon family saying she wanted to do something to help. Working with Brighton Art Group and Landscape Art Group, Brown organised a pop-up exhibition at The Palms Shopping Centre. The Merge exhibition ran from 18 -31 March 2017 and featured works by emerging local artists. Profits from the sales of nine artists, including Brown's own works, went to the family. The donor was moved by both the inclusive message of Brown's artwork and her fundraising gesture, and decided to offer the piece he purchased to the Museum because he felt the Museum has a proven record of 'Looking after the locals'.: Courtney Brown: The Palms/Shirley/Christchurch: 18 March 2017-31 March 2017
