Description
Souvenir and programme for the opening of parliament, 1914, printed on light but strong tissue paper. Central printed section including portraits of King and Queen is framed by green, blue and red border: green leaves, blue and red flags (various, including Union Jack) on gold poles. In large type in upper half of souvenir: "Souvenir and Programme of the Opening of Parliament by their Majesties the King and Queen on November 11th, 1914". Also printed is the scheduled time of events, the route of the procession and "A Few Notes on the Opening of Parliament" which gives a short history of the development of the "Parliament" giving as source of reference "Dr Brewer's 'Reader's Handbook'". In small type at bottom: "Printer, Burgess, 8 York Place, Strand, London W.C." In good condition. Creased with slight soiling.
