Anne Field first began weaving as a child but did not become serious about it until she met textile artist Ida Lough in the 1950s. Ida was an internationally recognised artist by this point and acted as Anne's teacher and role model. By the late 1960s Anne was teaching weaving in the evenings at Papanui High School. Her classes proved popular and she turned her weaving notes into her first book Weaving with the Rigid Heddle Loom in 1980. Anne went on to publish several more books and exhibited her works in New Zealand, the USA, Canada and Australia. She continued to teach through out her career and was known for her collapse weave technique. Body of Water is an exploration of weaving with fibre optic cable and fishing line. It was first exhibited at the Changing Threads Exhibition in Nelson in 2009.
