Description
One rectangular untreated piece of wood with 'E H. Shackleton' signed along its length. It arrived in a rectangular white envelope with a handwritten note, "Piece of 'The Endurance' signed by Sir Ernest Shackleton 1914 before leaving for the Antarctic Continent". This in turn arrived in a rectangular blue envelope with a handwritten note "from, Millicent Frances Smith, widow of Wesley Smith, has shared the possession of this for 50 years, a gift to Lord Shackleton, MP, 6 St James Square S.W.I".
