Description
Commemorative cover of the New Zealand Centennial 1840-1940, printed with a photograph of 'Petone, Immigrants Landed 22nd January 1840'. Two New Zealand Postage and Revenue Centennial 1840-1940 stamps are affixed to the envelope: three pence (Landing of Main Body of Immigrants on Petone Beach) and four pence (The Progress of Transport). Postmarked 'CHRISTCHURCH N.Z. REGISTERED 2JA40.1-PM' on the front of the envelope and 'TAITAPU N.Z 3JA40 I' on the reverse of the envelope. A registered mail 'R No. 675 Christchurch, C.1' stamp is affixed to the envelope.
