Description
Commemorative cover of Cook Islands Peace Stamps. Four Cook Islands Postage and Revenue stamps are affixed to the envelope: one penny titled 'Parliament House Wellington', two pence titled 'In Peace Long May They Reign', six pence titled 'Freedom From Fear and Want, Onward' and eight pence titled 'Their Name Liveth For Evermore'. Each stamp was originally printed as New Zealand postage, but they have all been overprinted with 'COOK ISLANDS'. Postmarked 'RAROTONGA 4 JE 46.9-AM' and 'AIR MAIL' on the front of the envelope and ''TAITAPU N.Z. 25JE46' on the reverse of the envelope. A note stating 'With the Compliments of The Director-General, Post and Telegraph Department' is enclosed.
