Description
First day cover of the New Zealand Health Stamps, 1939, printed with a drawing of a boy and a girl and the words 'Christchurch Sunlight League Health Camp Committee - Health camps for the children'. A New Zealand Postage Health two pence stamp is affixed to the envelope. The stamp sold for three pence and the proceeds above postage were donated to children's health camps. The stamp was originally printed as a one penny stamp, but was overprinted '2d'. Postmarked 'CHRISTCHURCH C.I. N.Z. 4-15P 16 OCT 1939 BUY HEALTH STAMPS FOR HEALTH CAMPS' on the front of the envelope and 'TAITAPU N.Z 17 OC 39 1' on the reverse of the envelope.
