Stamp: New Zealand Two Pence
Description
One postage stamp, New Zealand Postage and Revenue, two pence with postmark. '[?] PENNY' is printed diagonally across the stamp. Both 1d and 2d stamps were overprinted at Timaru but there is evidence that they were not issued regularly. Used copies, which show the date in the postmark, would appear to have been used in August although official instructions were issued on 28th June that all offices where adhesive stamps had been overprinted were to report the fact. Timaru did not do so.
