Description
One postage stamp, New Zealand Postage, three pence with postmark. Letters to Great Britain via Marseilles were charged an extra fee of 3d per 1/4 ounce and a stamp of this value became necessary. Perkins, Bacon and Company made a steel plate which was surfaced with nickel and printings were made from it at the office of the Postmaster-General, Auckland on paper watermarked large star. Early printing, 3d, brown-lilac (bluish in tone).
