Stamp: New Zealand Two Pence

Production date
1862
Description
One postage stamp, New Zealand Postage, two pence with postmark. White wove unwatermarked paper. Perforated 13 at Dunedin. The postmasters at Dunedin arranged a contract with Ferguson & Mitchell, a local firm of printers, to perforate stamps at 2d per sheet. A trial was made with some sheets on the unwatermarked paper in 1862. This copy of the 1d is the only one that is known to exist and it is therefore the rarest of New Zealand stamps.
