One page titled '-1857-59- In March 1857, the 1/2 oz. rate on letters for Great Britain via Southampton was fixed at 6d. Prior to the issue of a 6d. stamp in 1859, the postmaster at Dunedin adopted the economical method of using the half of a 1s. stamp. The bisected stamps were not sold to the public but were affixed to the envelopes in the post office.' One object is affixed under the sub-heading 'London print' and two under the sub-heading 'Local print on blue paper'.
