Stamps: New Zealand One Penny

Description
Two conjoined stamps, New Zealand Postage, one penny with postmark. Printed at Auckland by J Richardson. It is believed that only one trial sheet of the 1d. value was printed by Richardson on the star paper. Two pairs have been recorded with the Auckland postmark of January 19, 1857. The shade corresponds with the Richardson painting on Thick white wove unwatermarked paper.
