The photograph is taken from an elevated position on the roof of the Provincial Chambers and has the Avon River and Oxford Terrace in the foreground and is looking South or South East towards the Port Hills. Gloucester Street is in the mid ground. The photograph is captioned Chch 1860 and forms part of the 1859- 1860 Barker panorama.
