Marks/Inscriptions: T. 31 Tooley, William (1846-1902) was born in Norfolk, Eng and came to Port Chalmers in the Nourmahal in 58 . He went to Oamaru 2 W.H. t Kan roo and worked for 6 years for W H. Teschemaker at K ay d O cam e manager was employed as a shepherd for the N.Z. + Aust. Land Co for 31 years, years. In the early days he often had to live on wild pig. In 95 he took up land in the St. Andrews dest and called ct Tooley 's Field ; he also had 60 ac. at the Levels. He kept a market garden and milked cows . He was a member of St. Andrews Sch. Comm. marr '77 Mary Anne Eley of Eng. His last farm was at Temuka 4 sons He d. Temuka 3.8.12. daus.
