Marks/Inscriptions: S. 169 Searle, Frederick (1854 -1917) was born in Cornwall, Eng. and arrived in N.Z. in '75 and worked for A year at Allandale near Waikari , and for another year at Dunsandel on a property belonging to Hyman Marks. r then went in for contract work at High bank, and Rakaia, and Hororata. He went to West Melton and leased a farm of 105 ac. of which he after wands bought the freehold and later increased to 3 3 ac. He owned an other farm at Russell Flat of 150 ac. He became a sheep and cattle dealer . He was a promoter and later a director of the West Melton Sale ands marr. in Eng. Mary Jane dau. of Thos Webb of Cornwall : she d. 17.8.29 ag. 74. 4 sons f daus He d. Annat 1.2.17 ag 62. both bur . Springfield Cem. family. 4 dau.
