R. 311 a Rodgers , Samuel Simpson (1837. was born in Leicester shire Eng. and came out to Canty in Joseph Fletcher arriving 24.10.56 He worked as a shep herd in the Hunters Hills and then took up caring. He bought a bullock team which he worked between Waimate , The Hook and the back country or a time he also worked his tam bot eun Oar arne and the Cardrona gold diggings . He settled at Makikihi and bought a farm and did con trait work . He left for Eng. in 1900 Acland says he drove the first sheep to graze the Hunters Hilson fom North Canty . They were 18 mon hs on the road and were shor before they reacted the Rakaia marr. '60 e dau. of Divid Lindon of Auck. She d. y + left 6 sons 3 daus. note the above diving story is almost exactly repeated in the dary of W.l. Teschemaker.
