He was present at the first C.C.O. B.A. dinner held in London 31.3.82 He settled at Claremont. Timaru and lived there for about 25 years. He was Pres. of the Timaru Yorkshire Soc. ; member S. Canty Bd. of Educ. He was interested in steeple chasing . his horse Free man won the Grand National Steeple chase in '91 marr. 22.9.87 at the Ch.Ch Cathedral by Bishop Harper Alice Henrietta (effie) youngest dau of John C. Thierens of Otaio and g dau of Rev. John Spray , Rector of Pitt Paton , riverton Devonshire. He d. at Webb St. Ch.Ch. 9.5.14 ag 54. family.
