Marks/Inscriptions: F. 618 Pyne , Frederick Henry - (1856-1915) was born at Roy don, 2ser2c 29.2.56 son of the Rev. Alfred Pyne, Vicar of Roy don. He was educ at Eton when hy fistiuet Ala Boyle. He came out to N.Z. in 78 and join ed the form of J. M. Her wood + o. and rose to be manager. He and Boyle started the form of Pyne o in 88, He had a very high standing among other men both became se of his ability and his integrity He was particularly successful as an auction er of thorough breeds and was considered to be the best in N.Z. What made him so successful was He because he had an exceptional Knowledge of pedigree which he carried in his head and which he was able to produce with out hesitation His clothes were always unman late , even on a dusty day at Addn Every morning his handkerchief was newly washed and pressed and his shoes were hiring . He arrived at his office every morning in a hansom cab He had a particular deliberate way of making his signature which was always exceptional y legible. When a sheet of Figures were brought into him to sign he always ran his eye over rapidly and often defected mistakes. a son of a fiend. f his who was always thirsty and broke would come into the office and ask for a small advance .
