Marks/Inscriptions: P. 264 Pearson , John Rhodes ( 1870) was the eldest son of Joseph Pearson of Burnt Hill, and was educ at X's Coll 63-67. He was a farmer of Oxford and his farm was called Fairf eld He advertised for harvesters for tying and stoking 170 ac of cop Dec. 73 He was elected sec. + treas of the Oxford Cricket Club Nov. 73 . He was elected to the Oxford Rd. Bd. Jan 75 and next year was elected chair man. He presided at a in eating called to collect funds after the disastrous Oxford fire of Mary '76. £205 was soon collected in Oxford. He was elected to the Ashley C.C. for the Oxford Riding , easily defeating Dilnot Sladden. He acted as Clerk of the Course at the first in eating of the Oxford Jockey Club. marr. 30.12.75 at St. Andrews Oxford Rev.
