Marks/Inscriptions: 1. O. 44 O'Halloran , John (1838- 1918) was born at Annis , Co. Clare the son f Martin O'ball oran, coas t guard and Bridget Griffin . His parat moved to sharia la , Co Galway and from there he left for N.Z. in '62 in the Chrysolite . Cunningham Brothers had bought Loburn Station fom John Macfarlane in 62 and O'Halloran was a shepherd at Loburn at the time and continued there to work for the Cunningham.s . He helped them take the first mot of wethers through the B rowing Pass to the gold fields; they were sold at 50f a head. When Mannering + Cunningham leased the Okaka Country from Millton in '65, O'Halloran was put in charge of it. He bought some freehold in Loburn in '73 and took a run of 3000 ac which he sold in 77 to the Hon. Edward Richard son and he became Richard sons manager. He bought somes land out of T. Ell 's Ashley Gorge Run and owing to the coming in freezing was able to get finance to bey Ellis 's homestead block and some of the Lav ienr land along the Crist drain. At the sale of Glentui by the Assets Realisation Bd. in 99 he bought Glentui homestead and other land amounting to 2000 ac . From then on he usually carried 8000 sheep.
