Marks/Inscriptions: N. 28 heave , Francis Digby . Spencer (1842-1913) was born in India 24.4.42 and was educ. at Eton and took his degree at Oxford in ' . He s ackerman was believed to be in the Indian Civil Server. He arrived at Indie N.Z. in the Devon shire in 64. In May 65 he bong hit Mt Glides from Wm. Rolleston for £ 5000 ; this included 3275 sheep 2 bullocks and 2 horses. and 72 ac. of bos freehold to protect the bush. Mt Algies was originally known as Rakaia Forks, but Rolleston int rode ced Align dus as the name of a hill and heave changed the names to Mt. Algren s. In May 66 he advertised that he would take sheep for grazing at Rakaia Forks Station. Mt Algies was a very muck cut of station in the early days and the W ie er forces was a nasty river to css at any time. He was lecte a member of the Rakaia Rd Bd in 67. He set a mey sage to the Lylt. Tics in 67 saying that his station had ben singh lay favored in the late great srow stornn , king practically clear after the 3 " day. He sold Mt Algies to two of his cadets . J. H.C.
