Charles Jaine, James Jaine and William Faulke Jaine were brothers. Charles arrived in New Zealand in 1881. He married Annie Mills (James married Elizabeth Mills and William married Sarah Mills - the 3 brothers married the 3 sisters). Charles bought 600 acres at Ruapuna and in 1913, a further 580 acres at Carew, where he made excellent farms from stony soil and attracted much attention when he and a neighbour each bought tractors in 1917. The "son, Charles" bit in the handwritten record is incorrect.
