Joa + contractor and of John Holmes of Canada. his fathers name hst Knothole He was in charge of timel construction when his Uncle George was away. When George was insert he was in charge of the sawing up and des patting of timber from Pigeon Bay where Holmes had bought the s0 ac property of the Sinclair. Whom Gores health farley , D. C 1 was again in charge tune a i staunch oin . H s chore of the timel payment was Holmes ee near Methven of 5000 ac. He had a further 5000 ac nearby. He and his brother John the lawyer near in part. for a time in farming. He was elected to the Mt Hutt Rd. Bd. Sept. 7. His knowledge of engineering was valuable to the Bd. He was a big wheatg gower and one year had 2500 ac. in wheat crop. He had a flock of Lincolns which he founded op on Lock harts sheep Mt Harding of 8000 ac named after Capt. Harding q.v. was bought by D.G. and John. Sam Tierney was the first manager , then David Wilson . From 95 the manager was Louis Wood.
