Marks/Inscriptions: H. 458. Henry, John. ( - 1921) was born in Co. Antrim , Ireland and had a business training. He came to Canty in the Himalaya arriving 3.2.66 and opened a shop in Cashel St. on account of Grant and McLean and was in charge of it for 6 months. He then opened a bus ness for Watt + C storekeeper sister o and provis ion merchants and married Watts ou. Later he took charge of the Ellesmere beard of the business with headquarters at Wm sandel . The railway was approaching at the time. After 15 years he sold his share in thie bursinnass and bought Glenavy a farm in the Dun san del dist. He was a member and chairman of the Dunsandel dist. Sch. comm. He was a member of the Domain Bd. and managing director of the Central Davy Co. He was Charm an + treas. of the Library and was chiefly responsible for its success . The local residents made him a present of a clock for his work. He was a judge of dairy produce at the Ch.Ch. Show of T . He and Struthers opened a store at Selwyn in part. and did a good business un til Dunsandel became the railway Terminus, when they moved their store there Jan. 73. They diss. part. Aug. 73 . Through him , John Hart imported the first reaper , burden into the dist. wit. David Mo w. marr. 13.8 5 at McGr egon Watts home Mary Jane Wat, sister of Mc Gregor Watt.
