Marks/Inscriptions: W. 84 Joseph John Montgomery Hammond Hamilton, J.J. M. (1847-1910) was born at Calcutta, a son of Caft. Hamilton R.N. When 9 years old he was taken to Eng. by his parents and was educ. at Bedford Grana r Sch. When a young man he joined the staf of the Nat. Prov. Bank of Eng. and was sent out to wgtn to take charge of the Cuba St. brand of the N.B. N.Z. After 4 years he resigned to join the Public Trist office. In '91 he was app District Agent in Ch.Ch. - a post which he held till his death in 1900 . He had been Public Trustee in Wgtn during the absence of J.C. Martin in Eng. When he returned to Ch.Ch. his health was failing. and he was gwen 6 in os. leave , but he died not recover. He was W.M. in the Canty Lodge aud later Grand Supt. He d. 13.4.00. ag. widow Martha Parsons d. 31.7.20 at Rangiora ag. at Mrs Golds bury s home youngest son Horace Ellis Educ. X's Coll 98 -00 . Dist. Stocker N.Z. Railways - lived Wole. Hutt.
