Marks/Inscriptions: H. 78 Hamilton, Rev. Hugh Henry Scrivenor 1846- ) was always kn own as Harry; the second Hugh in the family was known by this name . Harry was the eldest son of the Rev. Hugh Staples Hamilton vicar of Mans ton , Yorks and he must have absorbed the bulk of the family morey available for education , for, after his school , he went to St. John 's Coll. Carb. where he took his B.A. in '71. He was ordained Dea deacon by the Bishop of Durham in '71 and pest in '72 by the Bishop of Riponui He was curate at Berwick+on Tweed for a year , and then at Bradford for 3 d then at Lincoln f year. r 3 years in the raes one en for 1 He came to N.Z. in 76, being the last of the brothers to arrive here and was vied of Cust for 3 years and for thee years after that. of Hokitika for 3 years. He was lvenmn temens at Gisborne for 6 months and was the appointed to Banks Pen. where he remained for 1 years. He left there in Sept '94 and was for 712 years in the Hororate- Malvern parish . In 1902 he went to Southbridge. He did a short term of duty when be at St. Michaels when he arrived. When he left Cust it was said 1 was because of the regularity o the payment of his stipend, but the church officials were able to show that this was not so, July '79.
