Marks/Inscriptions: H. 73 Hamilton, Edward Vesco (1856-91) was the eldest son of W .J.W. Hamilton and was educ. at Charts College 67-76. He was an exceptionally good athlete and won the Old Boys Champion Cup in '75. He had natural ability in Modern es and won a prize for Franch at the midwinter exams. in Ince '69. Languages a He was capt. of the Football team for 3 years. He won the throwing the cricket ball for 4 years running F.G. Westenra just beat him for the Champion Cup his last year at school when he was 20. He left for Eng. in the Rangi£er 11.3.77 and spent several years in France and Germany leaming the languages , When he returned he joined the staff of the Lylt. Times and excelled as a marie and art critic and in descriptive writing. He went to Wgtn. and was in the pres gallery as pail. reporter. He played cricket for the Lancaster Park Club and made 1 for the dub in De.8 (centuries were comparatively rare in those days.) Hannllont When R.A. Cough an left the Lylt. Times to go to Wgtn. Hs made the farewell speech Aug. 89. He became Editor of the Lot Canty . Times. In Sept. '90 he had to leave the paper on account of ill health. He had been a trustee of the L.T. Sch Fund and had contributed liberally and was looked on with affection by the st H. whole staff. He joined W.A. Carpenter in ait growing at Sumner 's Coll. Sch. hist.
