Marks/Inscriptions: H. 63 Hammett, John ( wes born at Sand ford , Devonshire and was apprenticed in Exeter to the trade of builder and was later employed by Cubitt s + sons, Lindon . with them he learnt the importance of machinery on in joiner,y work. He arrived in Ch.Ch in 83 and soon started as a builder and contractor. He built O. H. Browns Brookfield roller fore mills and John Deans's house at Riccarton .
