Marks/Inscriptions: H. 55 Halliday, John Sprott, (1838-1906) was described as a lab. of Kirk nd bright h and came out in the Victoria with his wit Henrietta, 26, and his daus Mary, s and Marion, 1., arriving 30.3.62. He was born in Dunfrieshire Robert Crosbie Bums of Southbridge also came out with him. Halliday lived in the Lincoln Rd. for 3 years and then went to the W. Coast for a year. He then returned and bought land at Lakeside and lived there for the rest of his Life. He called it Horne Farm. His wife was Henrietta Dickey , She d. at Horre Farm 23.10.08 ag. 75. He d. at Lakeside 13.12.06 ag. 70 family. both bur . Leeston Cem. son John Sprott, 22, b. N.Z. marr. 28.9.92 Annie Carg , 24 b.N.Z dau. John Craig. farmer. He was a fat lamb buyer d.
