Marks/Inscriptions: H. 53 Hallan, Charles Fisher (1827- ) was a carpenter of Surrey and came out in the Chrysolite with his wife Ann , 31 and his dau. Eliza Ann, 6, arriving 2.5.61 At a public meeting after the brg fire of fine 64 ie Colombo St. a man called Hallan got up and made a statement which was greeted with hisses , laughter, applause and stamping of feet. He said he had taken a hose from a youth called Ted Barker and used it where he thought best. He said he had had 3 years experience in a London Fire Bde. He said the Supt. of the Fire Bde. did not know his job and there was no discipline. He had undertaken to gives district on but had abandoned it, June 64 He had a hotel in the Caledonia Rd and he was bankrupt in '69 . His rent was 227.8.0 a quarter and his landlord was Innes.
