Marks/Inscriptions: p. 34 Hall, Emil (1838-1908) was born at Copenhagen, Denmark and was brought up as a buick layer and plaster er. He came out to Victo ria in '58 and went to the gold. fields. Afterwards he was license of the Deep Ack Hotel for 2 years. In '67 he went to Hokitika and stayed on the West Coast till '78. During that time he cared his living as miner , builder and holed. Keeper. He owned the Golden Hope Hotel at Ross and had experience of shricing and took building and mining contracts. Finally he abandoned inning and came to Timaru where he confined himself to building. He built the Marist Bros. School. He was a director and life member of the Caledonia Soc. He took 2 of his sons into part. w ith him. marr. Mary dau. of Timothy McHardy of Co. Cork. She d. at Timaru 15.7.15 ag sons 6 daus.
