Marks/Inscriptions: G. 516 Gullies , Thomas ore ( 1881-1918) was born in G renck the son of the Rev. D. John Guthri D.B. He studied medicine and graduated at Glasgow mr.v. in 77. He followed his brother John out to N.Z. in 78 being surgeon supt. in an emigrant ship . They had a bad trip out; there was a threat of martin 3 and they stuck some terrible storms. He became engaged to Mary Hay and they were married in ' . He went to Lincolns to practise but he was not strong and the country practice told on Wm. So the newly married couple went for a trip to Eng. , sailing in the Marlborough 18.3.82. When they returned July 84 he settled in Lylt. and practised there till '98. He then sold his practice to Dr pham, in order that he and his wife might travel and allow their children to se Europe. He was a man of great charm, universally liked. When he served on a Medical Board during the 914 war , his fellow doctors were impressed by his patience. forbearance and corr tes4. He returned to N.Z. in 1910 and lived in Fie ding where his son errol was in practice.
