Marks/Inscriptions: G. 801 Gunn , Alexander (1852-1931) was born in Cath ess shire , Scotland the youngest son of John Gunm and came out with his parents and the rest of the family in the Chrysolite on . After leaving school he worked on his fathers farm on the Hawkins. He was appointed manager to one of the N.Z. Loan + Merc farms in the dist. (perhaps Ray ham, at Aylesbury) but owing to his fathers age and ill health , he had to join him. He in merited the fine farm at Waddin ton kn own as Hawks view. He was a member and chair man of the S. Malvern Rd. Bd. and a member of the comm. of the local A+P. Assoc. He was a successful breeder and exhibitor of stock. His two sons R.+ , Gunn were well known farmers after him; one of them wass Pres. of the Canty. A. +P. Assoc. marr. 1 at Hawks rew , Race course Hill by Rev. H.B.Burnett Harriett eldest dau of John Butterfield of Springfield. She d. Ch.Ch. 20.2.17 ag 57. He retired in 1921 and d. 65 Francis rv. Ch.Ch. 5.9.31 ag. 79. Both bur. Kimberley em. a dau. became a teacher Girls High School son Robert sutherland marr. 18.7.22 Myra Cecilia (cis) dau. T.E. Jarman. son Errol killed in 1914 War. : 3 daus. 5. M. + I. Cyclop. NZ 1.
