Marks/Inscriptions: G. 859 Grigg. Robert (1837-1916) was born at St. Comb Major , Cornwall and came out to Victorian in the Phoenix. He visited many of the gold fields and in '61 came across to Gabriels Gully. He returned to Aust. but came back to N.Z. in '62. when he heard of the Dunstan rush. He continued gold mining till '65 when he went back to Eng. He married in '72 and let for America with his wife in the City of Antwerp. He was in Pennsylvania for 3 3 years and then visited the silver mimes in Nevada. He returned to Eng. in '77 and Came out to Canty. in 78 in the Op awash bringing his wife + 2 children. He went to Timaru and worked on the breakwater for several years and in '90 took land at Pareora. He farmed there till the time of his death. left a widow + 2 daus He d. 28.8.16 ag 79. Mrs C.H.
