Marks/Inscriptions: G. 839 Grierson , John Frederick William (1861 -14945) was born in Cardiff, the youngst son of John Grierson, diaper of Cardiff and came out with his pare+ls in the British Empire in '64 He was educ. at X's Cole 71-77 where he had a brilliant athletic carers . He was later hal mile Champion of N.Z 189-90-1 ; won the South Canty. A.A.C. Champ ion cup ' : member N.Z. Athleti team Austral as ian meeting '96. He joined the v.B.a in '76. In 77 he left the Bank and joined the National Ins. Co. After 12 years he was appointed manager Victoria Ince Co. He was a member of the Canty. Rowing Club from '75 and rowed in the four against Otago for 2 years . He was connected with Building Societies and was chairman of No.5 S0c. He was ree.- pes N.Z.A. A Soc. from '89. He was chairman of the Canty Fir Underwriters ess oc. from '91 He went in for brayley racing in the penny farthing days . He was keen on boxing and was a member of the N.Z.
