Marks/Inscriptions: G.827 Greig, William (1836 -191) was born at Rothery, Sest the eldest son of Wm. Greig an d Margt. Boyd. His first wife died in child burth in scotland He came out in the Matoaka in '60 bringing his sister Janet with him. After he arrived he worked on the Lylt. Tunnel and then took a contract for the stone work of the Bank of Austral asi a . He carried on as a builder for 8 years and then went to Ashley and farmed for 2 years. While he was there his sister Janet married 16.12.75 Robert Struthers. He returned to Ch.Ch. in '76 and went back to building in part. with John Hunter. They built the Boys and Girls High Schools , the Supreme Court ( in conjunction with Thos. Greg) part of Sunnyside, Ballantyne, In '93 his health broke down and he retired. In 1904 he started again in part. with his sons , David + Thorns marr. (27 Elizabeth dau. of Geo. Rankin , builder. family. David He d. at home of his dau. Mrs Dumnirill. Thomas 26.12.11 ag 75.
