Marks/Inscriptions: G. B44 Grange , Thomas (1830-92) was trained as a marine engineer at Glasgow and was an inspecting engineer. He was born in Lanarkshire. He arrived by the Zealandia 12.11.59 with his wife and 3 ch. He had beer specially engaged to to super intend the assembling of the parts of N Avon which had been designed and shipped for the pin pose of running f cargo up the Avon River. She was 60 feet long and drew only 3 pet when loaded and was dy ive by paddles . She was assembled at Rapaki and '8a launched there by Miss Cholmondeley of Port Levy and towed round to 3 Lylt by the Planet where her engines were installed. sown after she made a very successful trial trip over the Sumner Bay .
