Marks/Inscriptions: G. 252 Goodall, John was the first engines to start work on the Timaru Harbour works for the Harb. Bd. His original plan was to leave an open and near the beach for the shingle to go through. The forst breakwater was opened Nov. '79. He was so succe fl that Napier engaged him two year s later to plan their harbour. He had to put up with violent criticis in, but tinie proved his plans well founded and he, an unknown young man , proved right when more famous men had hesitated. Nov. 8 . He was appointed engineer to Napier Harb. Bd. Ap. 8 , but remained consulting engineer to Tim are. Andersen, S.
