Marks/Inscriptions: G. 11. Gale, Charles (1841-1911) wes born in Somerset according to the Marr. Reg at Winter combe and according to his tombstone. He served his apprentic hip as a blacksmith and in '62 came out to Victoria by the City of Melbourne and soon after went to the Ovens god fields. After 2 years there he went to Victoria and worked at borer making and they he went to Newcastle and worked for a mining Coy. He sailed for N.Z. and landed at Auck. in ' 5 and soon went to the West Farmed Coast gold fields. He then came to Canty. kot for tims at Lincoln and afterwards for 4 years at Greendale. He then bought a farm at Longbeach where he stayed till 84, when he bought 150 ac. at Mayfield . Later he added a further 300 ac. to it. He was a son of Thos Gale of Somerset and of his wife Mar Marsh. marr. 2.3.91 Ellen Husband b. Steerer , Lindon , living Willowby dau Peter H and Ann Thompson - marr. at St. Andrews . Tinwald.
