Marks/Inscriptions: F. 325 a 5 Franks, John (1837- 1922) was born at Garton in the East Riding of Yorks where he was brought ups to farming . He and his wife came out to Canty Gq.12. in the David G. Fleming in 163. He had land at Suing side and at Shand Track for a time and he then moved to West Melon where he had g steam threshing plant. After 3 years in Ch.Ch. he took over the Talbot Hotel at Yaldhurst + f which he remained the licensee for over 30 years. Jan81 He was a member of the Templeton Rd Bd. and of the sch . comis. of West Melton + Yaldhurst. He gave an acre of land for the sch. at West Melton. In Mar. 75 he had hir threshing plant burnt out at Heights farm near Racecourse Hill . He estimated his loss at 400. He was one of the founders of Plun ptar Pach Trotting Club, later Canty. Park T.C. marr. 25.7.63 s Mary Eliz. Tho ley of Yorks. both of Briden ton, Yorks. They celebrated their golden Wedding. He d. at Yald hurst 18.5.22 ag. 84. son Geo.
