Marks/Inscriptions: F. 200 Flower, Joseph Nicholas ( was born at Bath,y Eng. and arrived at Melbourne Feb. 55 by the James Baines which made a record trip. He went on to Sydney where he was a mas ter at Kings Sch. Paramata . About 1860 he went to the Gram mar School at l Fon burn and was 2master there. In '6 he came to Auck. and carried on a commerci sch. in Hobson St. He joined Dr Ridd when he was headmaster of Auck Coll. + G ,amman Sch. He was English + Commercial master there. In '73 he joined the Bank of N.Z in Auck. and in 74 he was sent to manage the Foxton branch. Ire '80 he was transferred t Kaikoura . He was retired in '95 and then opened a store in his own account. The Flowers became a well known Kaikoura family A. Flower marr. Matilda Hampton science master at X's Coll. was one of them. b. Arc.; storekeeper Kaikoura. 2 son Frederick Hampton marr. 22.4.95 Annie J.(Tiny) s1 dau W. Dorman farmer Springfield + Anne Jane Fullerton. St. Peters springfield M.R.
