Marks/Inscriptions: Dr.A. florance 2 F 203 away by some idea - but he was a good heart ed canker They brought Robert Stone back with them. They took a house in the district known as St albans ( beloved by sume to be named by him; but apparently the Philpotts trew it as St. Albans in the early 50's) , The drive leading to their house became part of Ranfurly St. He used to drive ar ph ether, wearing a silk dist coat and a top hat. He had a stock of medicinal herbs in his garden which he used for som ple mede mes . He was one of the old fashioned , was family doctors and was generally liked. Bat he eccentric and perhaps a little mad. He had a habit of thrusting himself upon a family and treating members of and sending medicines in spite of their protests, When they didn't pay he toole them to the Mag. Court. At one sitting of the R.M. he had there separate patents up who all said they did not want him to treat them. He was usually to the fore in ary Sourly which had for its obiet help ing the working man. He was ucc.Pres. of the Canty . Freehold Land Soc. Feb. 67. In June 67 he published an announceme - headed i Ch.Ch. Professional Etiquette Dishonorable Competition " addressed to J.D. Marks/Inscriptions: F. 203 Dr. Angus is Florance meet ie in consultation on the grounds that he considered ie an unqualified medical practitioner" He started an action for libel but withdrew when his chief witness declined to give evidence against Frankish. He was apparently in part : with Webber in a flax milling prof et in the Ferry Rd . and his son Augustus also took a part in it. They used the chemic - mechanical method ( chemicals plus beaters) Feb. 69. and he presided at a meeting held to form a company. He wrote a letter to the Lylt. Times (21.9.69) describing various treatments. He died a poor man with an honored name . He discovered a cheap way of producing chlorine of which he had a high opinion as a disinfectant. He was a temperance en thus rast - in ' , at any rate - and in that year addressed the Total als tiene Soc. saying he did not believe in the use of alcohol for treating The Ch.
