Marks/Inscriptions: C. 17 ' Carey Capt. ( 1913 in the '60's was in command of the small steamer Keeva in the N.Z. Coastal trade. He joined the N.Z Shipping Coy. and commanded the strainer Wellington trading from Auckland d. He was later employed by the hiion S.S. Coy. and commanded the Taup in '76. In '78 he transferred to the Roto rua. In '80 went to Eng. to bing out The Te aau for the Wgtn - Lylt. rum. Later he was in command of the Ro tom hana the fast vessel of the day in N.Z.- Aust. Waters. She beat the Adelaide the fas test ship up to that time. They had a proper set - to from the ara to Port philip. Laker he commanded the Monowai and Moan a. e d. Sydney 25.8.13.
