Marks/Inscriptions: B. 989. Burnett, Andrew (1838-1927) arrived with his wife Catherine by the Royal Stuart, Capt. Cornwall, 8.10.61. They made r the Mackenzie Country and got as far as Temuka by Coach. From there they transferred to a bullock Wagon driven by George Dynes. (Geo . L. was the son of Mrs Hayhurst by lee fir st his band. Where were no accommo . houses on the road. The only sin of Settlement was the Rhode 's ont station at Cars . Andrew Burnell and Geo. McRae bought Mt Coole station in partnership in 64. Iu '68 he bought McRae out. They fist went to Sm os Pass station which had been taken up by John Hayhurst in 157. In 66 - 67 the Burnetts were al Ble Cliffs . Burnett was overseer fox John Hayl rst the owner al that time. When Mrs Burnett went into the Mackenzie Countr there were only thence other women living there. - Mrs Teschemaker at at Haldon , Mrs John Hay at Tekapo and Mrs John Burgess at Grays Hells ( algo Mrs Hay hist at S mos Pass and probably some others) . Mrs Burnett reared her eight children at Mt Cook until they could Afford a house at Avs. Tales of Pioneer Women. Catherine Mckay in '61 She was born 1837 died at Aorangi , Cavs 8.7.14. . d. at Aorangi 21.9.27. his son Andrew Mt Cook Station 20.3.71 d. Timaru 2.10.84 bur. Timaru Cem. The station continued in the Burnett family. son T.D.
