Marks/Inscriptions: B. 511 Blakesley, Ree ben (1834 -1904) was born at Batley, York shire , the eldest son of Abraham Blakeney . He was educ. at Benjamin Preston 's school at Batley and furnished his educ. at the local gammarus school under Dr. Joseph Senior L.L.O. In '46 he entered the Woolden works at Batley and worked there for ten years He then comed his father and worked weth him till he died in '72 . He then became Sole manager. He came to N.Z. in '80 in the Mallowdale and landed at Port Chalmers . He lived at Timaru for a feas months and then moved on to Kaiapoi and was appointed organist to the Wesleyan Church. He had been Organist at Batley Ewen Chapel when he was 17; He was nee. pres. of the Kaiapoi Musical Soc. He was a composer of church musee and glee times , a conducts of bands and a use teacher . He was Mayer of Kaiapoi in 1891. He was elected to the Kaiapoi Br. Coun. June 84. He had ho ten children only far of whis servile. marr. a dau of John Blakely of Batley . she d. 13.12.91 He d. 1.4 04 aged 69. youngest dau Rachel marr. 12.3.89 Richard eldest leon oy Rob t Wylie of Ly H.
